SF35_351
Version 1.0
Copyright (C) by Mike Woltz, 1996
Buffalo Creek Software
SF35_351 is a SPITFIRE utility written to simplify the
conversion process of upgrading from SPITFIRE v3.5 to SPITFIRE
v3.51.
Begin by placing SF35_351.EXE in each SPITFIRE HOME directory
per node and executing it. After running it in each of the
SPITFIRE Home directories it should be erased from the drive(s).
Messages will appear on the screen as SF35_351 works to update
the necessary files to SPITFIRE v3.51 format. If everything
goes okay, you should see the following messages displayed as
the updates occur:
Updating SFNODE.DAT
Updating SFSYTEM.DAT
Adding menu option to SFMSG.MNU!
Altering SFSYSOP menu option!
Finished!
Press your favorite key to continue!
At this point, a second screen will display in which Buffalo Creek
Software thanks you for your support and promotion of SPITFIRE. Also,
a reminder is given to Sysops who use menu display files, that the
SFMSG<x>.BBS/CLR/RIP and SFSOP<x>.BBS/CLR/RIP will need to be modified
to reflect the menu option changes in SPITFIRE v3.51.
To better understand what is taking place during the conversion, the
updates SF35_351 performs during the conversion process are listed
below:
1) Reads information from the old SFNODE.DAT file and creates
a new SFNODE.DAT compatible with SPITFIRE v3.51.
2) Reads information from the old SFSYSTEM.DAT file and creates
a new SFSYSTEM.DAT compatible with SPITFIRE v3.51.
3) Adds "S,<S>.. Specific Caller Messages,,10,S" to the
SFMSG.MNU file.
4) Alters SFSYSOP.MNU file by removing the "List Comments"
option and by adding the "Sysop Menu Extension" option.
*** NOTE *** If the BBS uses display files for the Message
Menu, the SFMSG<x>.BBS/CLR/RIP and SFSOP<x>.BBS/CLR/RIP display
screens will also need to be modified to reflect the changes
which are made to the SFMSG.MNU and SFSYSOP.MNU menu files.
Once SF35_351 has finished the conversion process, you will need
to erase the SF35_351 conversion utility.
